seeing as they suggested car hire quite quickly, I recon they were hoping to use them to get them to drive them around. it would have been "seeing as you already have the car" and "it is our wedding after all".

i think if someone says they’re tight on cash and i can afford it i have no problem with paying, but expecting me to always pick up the bill without communicating anything is disrespectful. also u can’t be upset if someone you’re not super close with doesn’t come to your wedding in another country

NTA - it’s rude to be mad at people who rsvp’d no in a timely manner. I’m getting the feeling that if they’d decided to attend they were going to be asked to do things at/for the wedding and that’s what the bride and groom are really mad about

Before I became bedridden I had a group of “friends” every weekend I was designated driver and cash machine when money ran out for their cocktails, I lost my hearing so according to them “you won’t enjoy it now you can’t hear” but they asked for lifts anyway which I made excuses to not give. Then I met a few other people and they saw past my lack of hearing and we went out a few weekends and posted about it etc.. original friend group got annoyed because I made new friends who wanted me to go out without being the driver/atm. But then …. I was diagnosed with an inoperable terminal illness, it’s now been 5yrs od decline and I’ve not seen anyone, it’s strange how a diagnosis helps filter truth and bring the peace you never knew you needed. Now I’m told it’s not the condition causing my decline it’s the severe damage the treatment caused but I’m at peace with it, even if I am friendless in real life 🌺

NTA. I’d never expect someone else to pay for my dinner. I’m paying for mine and maybe my partners. Not splitting it evenly with other people. That’s not fair to anyone who didn’t order an expensive meal.
