What if you left it alone and made it into a bench; front entry bench, a porch bench, a kitchen table bench. I would hate to see that beautiful antique cut up. I feel like making it into a piece of furniture would be more widely used than a pet bed. Not a lot of people have a lot of room in their house for a giant pet bed, although it would be beautiful. I just don't think it's practical.
