@fox5dc: Manassas Park City Schools closed all campuses Monday after a transportation employee discovered a loaded handgun in a middle school parking lot, prompting an active police investigation, officials said. A Manassas Park City Schools transportation employee found the firearm around 6:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Manassas Park Middle School, located between two division vans. Police subsequently determined the weapon to be a loaded handgun. School administrators said the decision to cancel classes at all schools was made "out of an abundance of caution" to allow the Manassas Park Police Department sufficient time to investigate the incident. No threats have been made and no injuries have been reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
