Probably not only one way, but here’s my 2 cents. Pretty people were usually pretty babies and toddlers and children, which means that some of them grew up, believing that they’re only worth and the most important thing about them was how they looked. So anytime they felt threatened by anybody who didn’t meet the beauty standard they did, but might be extraordinary in another way, they needed to bring the focus back on the fact that looks are more important and if you don’t have them, you’re not worthy. - an adult ‘smart’ kid
