My honest review of my stay at the Royal Sonesta in New Orleans: Room 7033, 1 King Bed, Balcony, Corner (Executive Level) I’ve filmed in this hotel’s lobby and courtyard so many times, so I was excited to finally do a staycation here. Unfortunately, I left pretty disappointed. My issues are small, but the customer service is what really got me. We checked in at exactly 4pm and were told the room wasn’t ready and we’d get a call. The two ladies at the front desk were more into their conversation than us, and there was no “sorry for the wait.” After 20 minutes with no call, I went back and she just said, “oh yeah, it’s ready now.” Good thing I checked! The room was clean, no bed bugs, and the bed was comfy. BUT the photo on their website of a jacuzzi tub by the balcony is super misleading. It’s not in the room at all, and the only room I could find like it was from 16 years ago, before the renovations. Dinner at Desire Oyster Bar was underwhelming. The hostess kept texting before seating us, and the Jambalaya was probably the worst either of us has ever had. It tasted old and unseasoned, yuck. Our waitress was so sweet and got my husband the red beans instead, which he liked. The gumbo and oysters weren’t bad, but honestly, walk over to MRB’s. A little cheaper and MUCH better. Back at the room, I was looking forward to the jetted tub after all that walking. The jets didn’t work! I called down twice, no answer. When I went downstairs, the front desk workers were just hanging out, and they didn’t seem to care. The TV was an antenna with mostly “no signal,” and there was no WiFi info in the room or at check-in. And again, no one answered the phone. The next morning, the hotel alarm kept going off every 5 minutes (we didn’t set it - in fairness probably was the previousgl guest), so we just checked out. The morning front desk lady was a breath of fresh air! She was friendly, apologized, and said she’d submit a refund through Expedia. She even thanked me for mentioning the tub, which means the night staff never logged it. The doormen, bellhops, and other staff were all lovely. It’s the front desk that needs work, and other reviews say the same. So if you just need a clean room and comfy bed to party, you’ll be fine. If you want more for what you’re paying, I’d book elsewhere. #TikTokGORisingStarsL2 #NewOrleans #VisitNewOrleans #FrenchQuarter #NOLA @expedia @Sonesta Hotel
