Wondering why you’re NOT:

Gaining much strength?
Seeing the muscle growth?
Getting more “toned,” despite working your ass off?

If most of your training is circuit training, HIIT, group fit, or combo moves, you might simply not be giving your body enough stimulus to get stronger or build muscle.

Before you come for me with a pitchfork, I am NOT saying those things are bad!!

A well-rounded training program should include multiple aspects of fitness.

What I AM interested in is getting more women to actually lift some damn load.

Because for decades, women have been disproportionately pushed toward the cardio deck, group exercise, HIIT circuits, tiny dumbbells & workouts designed around burning calories, sweating and “toning” rather than actually building muscle & getting strong.

Meanwhile, strength training is sitting right there offering benefits for your muscles, bones, metabolic health, cardiovascular health, physical function, mobility, independence & quality of life.

So yes, you can keep your circuit training, HIIT, & group fitness classes if you love them!

AND know some of your training needs to actually be programmed for STRENGTH.

That means progressively loading your lifts, spending time in heavier rep ranges, resting long enough between sets to actually recover, tracking what you’re doing & giving your body a reason to adapt.

And if your goal is MUSCLE GROWTH?

You don’t have to live exclusively in low rep ranges, but you still need challenging sets, adequate weekly training volume & progressive overload over time.

In other words, doing a squat-to-biceps-curl-to-overhead-press with 5 lb dumbbells because Brittany on Instagram called it “functional” probably shouldn’t be the foundation of your program.

So tell me: are you actually strength? #workout #strengthtraining #womenwholift
