The state pension for people who have spent their lives working should not be considered welfare. It is something they have earned through years of hard work and National Insurance contributions—a pension they receive in return when they retire.

Not sure should lump in pensions with welfare - people paid into that by being taxed. Better thing to highlight is how much goes to pay for universal credit and the such - which is around half of the welfare you quoted.

You do realise thar we are only paying 3.7% interest on our debt. But with a twelfth refinanced every year at market rates that bill goes up by another £9bn automatically each year for the foreseeable future
