@justice_forthe_voiceless: A 35-year-old man has been arrested in KwaDabeka, Durban, in connection with an attempted hijacking in Pinetown earlier this month, during which a father shot dead one of the alleged attackers. KwaZulu-Natal police said the suspect was arrested on Sunday, October 25, following an investigation into the October 9 incident on Lea Place. The father was reversing out of his driveway with his two children when suspects allegedly got out of a vehicle behind them and opened fire. The father reportedly returned fire, fatally wounding one of the alleged hijackers. Dashcam footage of the incident circulated widely on social media, showing the father shielding his daughter, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, before opening fire on the suspects. Pinetown detectives investigating the attempted hijacking and three counts of attempted murder followed up on information that led them to KwaDabeka, where the 35-year-old suspect was arrested. Police said he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and 14 rounds of ammunition. The suspect faces charges of attempted carjacking, three counts of attempted murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
