That’s where the pros and the cons both come from. The AC and ductwork up there now sit in a cool space instead of a hot one. Make sure your HVAC contractor knows the attic is foamed before they size it, and ask about fresh air ventilation. The install is the risky part. Everyone stays out of the house until it cures, and a bad mix can leave a smell that lingers. Hire an experienced installer. This isn’t the place to go cheap. Roof leaks are the other catch. The foam can hide a slow leak until the decking is damaged.
