@famouspeoplegoodorbad: In 1909, Fritz Haber pulled nitrogen out of thin air and gave the world cheap fertilizer. The Haber-Bosch process now helps feed about half of humanity. In 1915, at Ypres, the same man oversaw the first large-scale chlorine gas attack of World War One. His wife Clara begged him to stop, and days later she was dead. He won the 1918 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, lost his German homeland to the Nazis, and died in exile in 1934. His institute's pesticide research later led to Zyklon B. The scientist who fed the world, or the father of chemical warfare? Every legend has two sides. You be the judge. 👇 🎼 Music: "Bread and Poison" (original score composed for this video) #history #FritzHaber #WW1 #ChemicalWarfare #ScienceHistory
