Half your point is correct you shouldn’t expect anything from doing what you’re supposed to do in Islam because if it doesn’t come you will be disappointed and in turn it will lead to you leaving your deen, but if wanting to be rich or wanting your answer or whatever you want from becoming a more pious person leads you to becoming a better Muslim that’s not a bad thing you shouldn’t limit your wants and your good actions thinking that it will lead to getting what you want just because your supposed to pray or read Quran, if Allah put that in your heart and it leads to you being a better Muslim that could easily be his way of bringing you closer to him.
