So theres actually a few biological reasons for this! Women standardly have a higher core body temperature than men do with faster heat loss, which makes colder air and water feel more intense to us. A lower resting metabolic rate and less muscle mass causes us to also produce less body heat overall which adds to our heightened perception of cold. The natural amount of estrogen we produce can also constrict blood vessels which limits how well blood flows to the extremities, causing hands and feet to potentially feel up to 3°C(5.4°F) colder than men’s. We also just tend to have more cold receptors in our skin on average than men. All of that combined means the “hot” water a man feels is not at all the same experience a woman is having with that same water. It feels much colder to her because it literally is.
