Glory to socialism and futurism 🚩#fyp #socialism #ussr #communism #futurism The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) was founded in 1922 after the Russian Revolution and became one of the most influential states in world history. Its political system was based on Marxism-Leninism, an ideology that aimed to establish a socialist society in which the means of production, such as factories, banks and major industries, were owned or controlled by the state rather than private capitalists. The origins of the USSR go back to 1917, when the Bolsheviks, led by Vladimir Lenin, overthrew the Provisional Government during the October Revolution. This followed the February Revolution, which had forced Tsar Nicholas II to abdicate and ended centuries of imperial rule in Russia. After several years of civil war between the Bolsheviks and their opponents, the Soviet Union was officially established on December 30, 1922. Lenin introduced the New Economic Policy (NEP), which temporarily allowed some private economic activity to help rebuild the country. However, after Lenin’s death in 1924, Joseph Stalin gradually gained power and became the dominant Soviet leader. During the late 1920s and 1930s, Stalin introduced rapid industrialisation and collectivisation of agriculture. The government established state-controlled farms and invested heavily in heavy industry, transforming the USSR into a major industrial power. However, these policies also caused enormous suffering, including famine, forced deportations, political repression and the Great Purge, during which millions of people were imprisoned, executed or otherwise persecuted. In 1941, Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union during the Second World War. The Soviet people suffered catastrophic losses, but the Red Army eventually defeated Nazi Germany, playing a decisive role in the liberation of much of Eastern Europe and the capture of Berlin in 1945. After the war, the USSR emerged as one of the world’s two superpowers alongside the United States. This marked the beginning of the Cold War, a period of political, military and ideological rivalry between the capitalist Western bloc and the socialist Eastern bloc. Under Stalin and his successors, the Soviet Union supported socialist governments in several countries and developed nuclear weapons, space technology and a powerful military. After Stalin’s death in 1953, Nikita Khrushchev became the country’s principal leader and denounced some of Stalin’s crimes in 1956, beginning a period known as de-Stalinisation. The USSR also achieved major scientific milestones, including launching Sputnik 1, the first artificial satellite, in 1957, and sending Yuri Gagarin into space in 1961, making him the first human to travel into space. In 1964, Leonid Brezhnev came to power, and his era was characterised by political stability, military strength and extensive state control, but also by economic stagnation and limited political freedoms. Soviet citizens benefited from widespread access to education, healthcare and employment, although shortages of consumer goods and bureaucratic inefficiencies remained serious problems. In 1979, the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, beginning a costly war that lasted nearly ten years and further weakened the country. In 1985, Mikhail Gorbachev became the Soviet leader and introduced reforms known as glasnost (greater openness) and perestroika (economic and political restructuring). His aim was to reform socialism and modernise the Soviet system, but his policies also exposed deep economic difficulties and encouraged demands for political freedom and national independence throughout the USSR. In 1989, communist governments across Eastern Europe began to collapse, and the Berlin Wall fell, symbolising the end of the division between East and West. In 1991, an attempted coup against Gorbachev accelerated the collapse of Soviet authority. Several Soviet republics declared independence, and on December 26, 1991, the So
