Enthusiasts actually bring wetsuits and surf this freezing wave for miles! • A rare global phenomenon: It is one of only about 60 places on the entire planet where a bore tide occurs. 🧭 How It Got Its Name • Captain Cook's frustration: The waterway was named by the famous British explorer Captain James Cook in 1778.
