That’s their version of inclusion so they don’t have to make POC characters

I hate indie animation panic attacks like yes that's totally how it works whenever I have a panic attack I get trapped in the void and start hallucinating a bunch of eyeballs and shapes and colors

Because puss in boots got praise for it. But the plot of that movie was literally about puss coming to terms with his mortality and a character was a therapy dog. It doesn’t make sense in other cartoons.

lowk lazy writing, usually it's characters who fake confidence, so panic attacks give a false sense of depth; this is also a quick way to get a large portion of the audience to enjoy and/or relate to the character without real development over several episodes

People keep saying this but i havent found a single example of this whole realistic panic attack thing which is especially funny when the origin of that trend is puss n boots

They think it presents depth and subtext but it’s actually the most in your face thing they could possibly do. Zero build up. Zero payoff.

I think the real answer is that most amateur writers see it as a shortcut to creating tension and genuine characterization. Cause IRL they do imply a really strong emotion tied to past experiences, but in media it’s frequently just “My character has heckin TRAUMA, aren’t they so fleshed out? Just ignore the fact they have no real personality or relationships”

2 theories. First is that all indie animation shows take a long time to make, so its possible they all kind of started at the same time for a while and "realistic panic attacks" in animation were kind of the hotness for a minute. 2nd theory, its really easy to look good without working on other ways of having any kind of rep or realistic stuff. Like a "Look im woke" card without any effort
