Yes, we pay for it in taxes, but the part of my taxes that go towards universal healthcare is probably less than your average American insurance deductible.

For everyone saying we pay for it through our taxes, the USA does the same through taxes plus they have to pay for insurance deductibles and go bankrupt

Honestly,we pay 15 to 20 bucks for parking. As Canadians, we really should get rid of parking fees at hospitals.😂😂😂😂😂

11 surgeries, 12-15 MRI’s and CT scans, bone scan, multiple ultrasounds and X-rays, lost count of how many times I have had to go to the ER, have a boatload of specialists that I see regularly, paid for parking only. Thankful to have Universal Healthcare, that is what tax dollars should be used for.

We do pay a little for OHIP. Maximum $900.00 per year if you make more than $200,600,00 per year. It shows up when you do your tax return.

Tommy Douglas (October 20, 1904 – February 24, 1986) is widely known as the "Father of Medicare" in Canada for pioneering the country's first universal, publicly funded healthcare system.
Key Facts
• Early Inspiration: As a boy in Winnipeg, Douglas nearly lost his leg to osteomyelitis, but a surgeon operated for free because his family could not afford care. This experience inspired his lifelong belief that medical care should not depend on wealth.

In Australia, I don’t have to pay for healthcare, we have Medicare. We pay enough tax which is why get the benefits. US needs change and need people like Abdul.

australia here. let's clear up a myth about universal healthcare. it isnt free. we get taxed 1.5% of your income for free healthcare....and if youre a high income earner you still need to pay for private health. so people earning over $250k are often paying up to $10k per year for free healthcare. BTW... wouldbt change it for the world.

The bots are out heavy trying to convince Americans that public healthcare ain’t it. I’ve already read 4 of the exact same comment “It tales 3-4 months to be seen by a doctor in Canada.” Which is not true. 2 weeks tops. Specialists is a different story

My husband lives in Michigan and I live in Canada - We brought up this discussion on how Canadian taxes must be so high because of health care... So we did the math and found: In Canada I make more than him, pay LESS in taxes, and have 'free' healthcare.

Tore ligaments in my hand yesterday, didn’t think twice about going to the ER, was in and out in 1.5 hrs, only thing I had to pay was $4.50 for parking. So thankful to live in Canada!

our medical health system definitely isnt perfect, certain things aren't covered such as physiotherapy or eyes (unless u have workplace insurance) but at least if God forbid I need a life saving treatment, I dont have to worry abt being millions in debt.

True story. It’s not “free” though, it’s where we choose to prioritize our tax dollars to fund.
