I thought he was from Ukraine, but if you have a chance, please watch the Jessica Lange movie the music box. It will explain everything well almost everything. He was able to stay free for so many years due to poor memory of some of the survivors one woman, unfortunately in Israel, referred to him as Klink. I believe he worked in Dearborn, Michigan immediately after the war was over.
