@countrymusicflashback: Blackjack dealer by day Before Nashville, Lee Greenwood dealt blackjack in Las Vegas by day and sang there at night after his band broke up. In 1979, Mel Tillis's bandleader Larry McFaden discovered him in Reno and became his manager. MCA's Nashville division signed him in 1981, and in 1983 his single "I.O.U." reached No. 6 on the country chart. The album Somebody's Gonna Love You was certified Gold on February 24, 1984. Greenwood was named CMA Male Vocalist of the Year in 1983 and 1984. In 1984 he won the Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance, Male for "I.O.U."
