Come calculate my Spark Driver profits with me every Sunday! ❤️ Because apparently, sharing my earnings has turned into everybody trying to manage my finances, and I’m honestly getting tired of it. #SparkDriver #Spa First of all, I do not have to share any of this information with y’all. I do it because there are people who genuinely want to know what they can expect to make as a Spark Driver, especially in smaller, rural areas like mine. But every single time I post, somebody has something to say about my taxes, insurance, vehicle expenses, or wear and tear. So let me explain a few things. 🚗 MY VEHICLE: This is a 2009 vehicle that I specifically use for work. I paid $3,500 for it, and it has been reliable for what I need it to do. I’m not treating it like a brand-new family vehicle that I’m worried about depreciating. It’s my work car, and it has already paid for itself in the work I’ve done. Of course, one day I’d love to upgrade to a Toyota Camry Hybrid to save on gas, but I’m going to wait until I find a good deal on a used one that has the features I want. I’m not going into debt just to impress people on the internet. 📱 MY PHONE: I use my phone specifically for work, too. That’s another expense I keep track of. 🛡️ INSURANCE: Yes, I have insurance. But insurance is also a regular household expense, and I have to pay for a vehicle whether I’m working a 1099 job or a W-2 job. I’m not saying business-use insurance requirements don’t matter, but I’m not going to let strangers dictate how I categorize every household expense in my personal budget. 💰 TAXES: This is where everybody really starts losing their minds. I keep track of my mileage, gas, phone expenses, and other potentially deductible business expenses. I use ChatGPT to help me organize my numbers, and I’ll take my records to a tax professional when it’s time to file so they can help me determine what deductions I qualify for and what I actually owe. I also have two dependents, which can affect my tax situation. I’m not going to pretend I know my exact tax liability before everything is calculated, but I’m keeping records and getting professional help. And before somebody jumps in the comments, having dependents and mileage deductions does not automatically mean you won’t owe taxes as a 1099 worker. I’m aware that my actual situation needs to be calculated. I’m simply saying I’m keeping track of my expenses and will handle my taxes when it’s time. I’m sharing my real numbers because I want other drivers to have realistic expectations. I live in a rural area. I’m not working in a major city or near popular vacation destinations. A lot of my orders involve driving 15–25 miles, and the opportunities available to me aren’t necessarily the same as those available to somebody in a more populated market. That’s the whole point of these videos! I want people to see what working Spark can actually look like in different areas. I’m not claiming everybody will make what I make. I’m not claiming Spark is perfect. And I’m certainly not claiming my financial situation is the same as everybody else’s. I’m simply showing you MY earnings, MY expenses, and MY experience. If you find these videos helpful, I’m happy to keep sharing them. But if every video is going to turn into people attacking me over my finances, maybe I’ll stop sharing them altogether. There are people out there who genuinely need this information, and it sucks that people who want to help others end up getting torn apart for being transparent. You don’t have to agree with how I do everything. You don’t have to work the way I do. But you can disagree without being disrespectful. I’m going to keep tracking my numbers, keep learning, and keep working toward my goals. At the end of the day, I’m the one doing the work and managing my household. These videos are here to HELP other drivers, not to invite the internet to take over my finances. If you find them helpful, stick around. If you don’t, keep scrolling. It’s really that simple.
