Join at NS first then go to a different railroad. NS will hire anyone they can then you get right, learn everything, get certified after that go to a different railroad like CN.

Electronic Tech on a different railroad. Broke $200K last year but more typical is $135-150k. Also on other railroads it will take years to get to an ETI position. Norfolk Southern pays the worst.

Y’all steady be saying that you accept new hires with no experience and we get hands-on experience but once you apply you never hear from anybody you get denied because you don’t have any experience so so what’s the point of applying if all you have is a high school diploma and a drivers license if you’re not gonna hear from them nine times out of 10 they gonna hire somebody son or family member that used to work there

Don't listen to all of the negative comments. working for the railroad can be a great career. do your homework, get your resume right and apply. If you're prior military, let's get this work. Railroad’s routinely take a long time to get back with you so be prepared for that. Is the railroad hard to get into, YES! This is not McDonald's. It's the damn railroad!
