@sn_aqeel: The government on October 26 completed disaster stockpile agreements covering all 10 regions of Japan, signing the final deal with Toyama Prefecture. Under the agreements, prefectures provide storage facilities free of charge while the central government stocks them with cardboard beds, portable toilets and other relief supplies. In a disaster, the supplies will be sent directly to affected municipalities under a push-type system. Disaster Minister Goshi Hosono said the new Disaster Management Agency, launching on November 2, will issue an emergency request to ministries, prefectures and all citizens to step up preparedness. He urged households to keep at least three days of food, water and toilet supplies at home, ideally a full week, without relying on public help. The agency also aims to improve evacuation shelters, adding baths to the standard of toilets, hot meals and beds. The moves come as Japan braces for a Nankai Trough earthquake, a capital quake and a Mount Fuji eruption.
