I saw one girl who handed out the daisy forms to all of her patients every day. So of course they complimented her. When she got the award she cried tears of joy acting like she just won a Grammy award before they even announced her name.

Daisy is given by committee so it's a popularity contest on top of requiring a nomination. One of the winners where I work is the most caustic incompetent wretch I can think of...but somebody nominated her

I got 14 nominations one year and didn’t win, but the nurse who got 1 did. She was only there for 6 months (opposed to my 7.5 years) and was new grad. Not knocking new grads, but she was terrible and called out once a week and refused 60% of her assignments LMAO

My daisy came from doing less than everyone else was. I’m not over the top w my patients or super cheery. I try to meet people where they are. And that’s why the “grumpy” patients have never been grumpy w me.

It’s so demeaning when you think about other professions and how they are rewarded with bonuses and raises for good performance. We get a flower pin. I get the meaning behind Daisy but, personally, just hearing grateful words from the patients and seeing them get discharged safely is more meaning to me! I’d rather get money than a pin thank yewwww

@Panda Halp: I started my own pin society for those of us that are Daisy-less. It’s called the Forget Me Not society—and the pins are forget-me-nots! 🌸 Nominees are chosen by co-workers. ❤️

I had a coworker who made the fact that she won a Daisy her ENTIRE personality. Brought it up constantly: “Well, as a Daisy Award winner, I think…” Ended up having complete meltdown at the station when another nurse mentioned they had seen her handing the nomination forms to all her patients and telling them to, “Put in a good word for her.”

There was a big box for Daisy nominations just outside our nurses station. It was covered in daisy stickers. I peeled one the stickers off (stuck it on my badge) and gave myself a Daisy. I mean that's totes legit, right?
