@getmomstrong: This is the missing piece for core healing for SO many women! Your diaphragm (your main breathing muscle) sits right below your rib cage. And your body LOVES the path of least resistance. After babies, our rib cage can become wider and more flared. And when those ribs stay lifted and open in the front, our breathing mechanics can change. Instead of getting that beautiful 360° expansion through the sides and back of our rib cage, we may rely more heavily on movement in the front. And here’s why that matters… Your diaphragm and pelvic floor are supposed to work TOGETHER! Think of them like a piston. 🫁 Inhale → diaphragm descends, pelvic floor lengthens and relaxes. 💨 Exhale → diaphragm recoils upward, pelvic floor naturally recoils with it. This coordinated movement helps us manage pressure throughout our entire core. But when our ribs are constantly flared and our breathing is limited, that coordination can become less efficient. And you can do ALL the core exercises in the world, but if you’re constantly fighting against poor pressure management, you’re missing an important piece of the puzzle. ENTER: THIS 2-MINUTE BREATHING RESET. By curling forward and gently compressing the front of your rib cage with a squishy ball or pillow, you’re encouraging expansion into the BACK and SIDES of your ribs. You’re giving your body an opportunity to explore a breathing pattern it might not be using very well. Here’s how: 1. Settle into this rounded, supported position with your belly resting against the ball. 2. Take a slow inhale through your nose, imagining your back ribs spreading wide. 3. Exhale slowly and fully through your mouth, allowing your ribs to soften down. 4. Repeat for 2 minutes, keeping your neck, shoulders and pelvic floor relaxed. Restore mobility, improve awareness, and help your diaphragm, abdominal wall and pelvic floor work together. More value from 2 minutes of this than 20 minutes of core exercises, in my opinion. (Not saying skip your core exercises altogether…just saying that teaching your body to breathe more optimally is a big piece of the puzzle). #diastasisrecti #prolapse
