I have a question you may like to cover this question.\n If government officials come knocking on your door to say they're going to take you to safety and take you somewhere of safety, would you go or would you stay? At home and pretend you're not there and if you stay the reasons why💙💙💙

I’m a member of my counties emergency operations team. It manages the high-level, macro coordination of a disaster from a centralized office. CERT is a great localized emergency team. We get intelligence from the CERT team in the community during emergencies so that we can deploy things to the appropriate locations. Glad you posted this. I don’t think people are aware they can help. And it’s an honor to serve our communities!

Have the knowledge, don’t do the work. It’s a noble idea, but in a true emergency, take care of your family.

I trained with a neighboring county and volunteered for 3 years. This training is really thorough and recommend even if you don't want to volunteer. There are great free online training resources. Perfect for families to do at home. The skill I didn't already know anything about was cribbing. It's the process of shoring up and bracing during extricating a person from debris/rubble. Cant recommend enough.
