That name actually makes sense for mitya because there was a famous Russian chemist named Dmitri who made a variant of the periodic table (plus they have the same birthday)

in case if you want to know diminutives for Tsaritsa's name. its Nastya, or even more diminutive Nastenka. Nastewsha also valid. Also you can use a bit more archaic name variation - Nastasya (no a at the start and -ya sounds like in "nyah") and then Nastasenka

In Russia there's only a handful of names. I think Mitya is named after Dmitri Mendelejev and Alyoša is named after Aljoša Popovitš meanwhile his dog is named after Zmei Tugarin. Just my interpretation
