Imo Raiden is the only one that felt like an archon. She has a palace thingy (tenshukaku) which is a huge and imposing building in the nation, a grand shrine on the top of a mountain, multiple titles and an army that is devout and loyal. Not to mention her exclusively and presence suggests that she isn’t on the level of common folk or someone you can interact with normally. Her character basically commands respect, fear, devotion. Those traits are seen in almost every Inazuman in the nation. Which is why watatsumi island, its residents and the resistance is so special. It rejects that and goes against the shogun. That doesn’t mean that they don’t fear her, but because they are courageous enough to stand for their beliefs, which happens to be against her own. We’ve never seen this in any other nation prior or after inazuma. People disagreeing with their ruler adds a layer of realism we haven’t seen before in game. She is actively ruling inazuma without being close of familiar with its inhabitants, creating the sense of importance and exclusivity. I thought mavuika kind of felt like a god as well, because she was also 1. The most influential and powerful in the nation and 2. Actively ruling it. Still, the familiarity and the friendly bonds with her people didn’t really cut it for me in the “archon” department. She feels more like a uber-powerful rebel who would fight for her nation no matter what, with only some scenes showing her actual authority. Anyway, back to Raiden. She really tops the list for me because of similar reasons. She 1. Is the most influential and powerful in her nation. 2. Is actively ruling the nation. 3. A god her people worship, praise and fear. 4. People built infrastructures and established things like the tenryou commission dedicated to assist her in ruling 5. Her raw power and martial prowess 6. Her absoluteness in her ideals (eternity) 7. The distance she keeps from her subordinates / people 8. The fact that some people don’t worship her for the same reasons others do worship her for. Also, the concept of eternity is profound and sublime, while the element of lightning / electro is powerful and fearsome. What do yall think?
