My mom wasn’t the most loving mom in the world. She had a lot going on in her personal life and never really gave me affection. But one time when I was around 9 years old she came in and laid in my bed and rubbed my back for what felt like hours. To this day that’s the one night I remember feeling most loved by her. I now understand that she was just using my room as an excuse to hide from her angry drunk husband but I still carry that feeling of momentary love and connection from her. I now have 3 kids of my own and never pass up the opportunity to rub their backs and show them motherly love. I can only hope they feel as loved by me daily as I felt in that single moment.

I remeber when my baby used to ask me to go “Shhhh shhh shh” when he was sleeping, he’s four now & I don’t remeber the last time he asked 😭 the days are long but the years are short momma’ I remeber my mother never every saying no to us ! She would fall asleep sometimes while putting us to sleep but their was no phones on her hands & she was always with us in bed to comfort us! I gotta do better 🙏🏼😭🩵
