This is like walking around the streets with a duffel bag of cash and saying nothing will happen to you because it’d be a crime if someone robbed you, it’s almost like not all people are Good and you should protect yourself 🤯

Raising Bridget :
no one is saying it is not a crime. they're saying waving $100 bills around in public is stupid and asking for trouble. it's straight up dumb. still a crime if someone takes them. but dumb on the owners part.

Yeah but those are obviously bad ideas and if you reported it the police would say why were you waving the dollar around. But the analogy here isn’t that good, cuz the what were you wearing thing doesn’t matter, it probably would’ve happened regardless because of the awful person

Okay I agree but like all the things you mentioned would typically also be brought up. If someone broke into my house and my door was unlocked the average person would say “why tf would you leave your door unlocked” and same applies to all the other examples you gave.

i love you :
if i was passed out drunk with all my doors unlocked and someone robbed me that would still be a crime.

Okay do you think it’s WISE to advertise how much expensive things our in your house and easy it would be to steal it? Im not saying it’s right (it’s not) im trying to prevent theft from happening as often.

I mean, in literally all of these examples those same men would also blame you for leaving your door unlocked, or flaunting your assets lol. I don’t think who to blame SUDDENLY switches for them depending on the example like you’re implying it would. I think the core concept is that being a woman shouldn’t be equivalent to leaving your door unlocked, or flaunting something worth stealing. And the idea that your clothes or behavior influence your chance of being assaulted, isn’t rooted in any statistical reality.

Yeah that’s the whole point. In a perfect world you can leave your 100 dollar bill on a bench and come collect it a week later, but it’s not a perfect world. Crimes will be committed and you’re naive if you think you can avoid accountability if you’re aware of what provokes a crime and still do it

yeah but someone's more likely to rob your 100 dollar bill if you are flaunting it than if it was in your pocket...
