I was always asked if my mom was Filipina growing up. I guess she didn’t look Samoan to the non-pasifika folks around us. I assume bc she was light? Idk. She sure as heck gave Samoan when she was cussing me out in Samoan or whooping me. 🤪😂 All love! My dad was a dark skinned Samoan so I came out light brown. Genetics are funny.

Idk where you live but I grew up on the east coast small town and was treated like a foreigner all the time (half Chinese half white), and my half Filipino husband had the same. Now we live in sf and nobody except uber drivers asks us our ethnicity. It’s really different out west!
