@behindthebakersapron: There were days I would start working as early as 7 in the morning and not finish until after 7 at night. #Twelve hours on my feet. Maybe two quick restroom breaks, a sip of water when I could, or grabbing something sweet just to give myself enough energy to keep going. I would tell myself, "Just get through this next task, then you can sit down for five minutes." But those five minutes never seemed to come. Every time I thought I had a moment to sit, catch my breath, or maybe even take a proper 15- or 30-minute lunch break, someone was looking for me. Someone needed something. Another request. Another task. Another reason to keep going. And just like that, my break was gone before it even started. I wasn't asking for much. Just a few minutes to sit down, eat something, and give my body a chance to rest. The hardest part wasn't always the workload. It was feeling like everyone needed something from me, but nobody stopped to ask if I needed anything. And tomorrow, I'd come back and do it all over again. Sometimes, the person making sure everyone else is taken care of is the one who goes all day without being taken care of.
