So, black women are getting an education to build a financial life on their own. But the number of eligible black men doing the same is significantly less. So, who is she supposed to marry?

partnership is the quickest way to get on the path to wealth. It’s not even up for debate. . .

I made a post like this and the comments were similar. I deleted the post. I’m done arguing statistics. Gotta accept that many black ppl are okay with the state of our community.

I’m Asian. Married. Majority of us Asians combine income. Weird to the western world, yes. While everyone is screaming do 50/50, we don’t think like that. We all just work together toward common goals.

I’m curious if this report also includes division of labor and which spouse gender on average earns more across these different racial groups. This isn’t happening in a vacuum and I don’t think the solution is just to tell women to focus on marriage in addition to their personal career goals.

We just need to get married and work together. All these separate households makes it difficult to build wealth

The men arguing on the internet about anything let alone going 50/50 ARE NOT the men making good money that women would partner with to woman. These are absolutely to different groups of men.

We gotta learn how to cohabitate & get along with each other first. The cheating, lying, abuse, & babies before marriage has to be addressed first before any of us can be in a successful marriage… get to the root of the issue first.

Both sides need to quick the rosters, get married, and do what works for them. Whether it’s 50/50 or 70/30, we need to cut the bullshit on BOTH sides and work together. Period. 🙄

We’re also having kids TOO early (mostly out of wedlock). The quicker you are to have children, the slower you are to bring in significant wealth. Especially to pour into said children. If you don’t come from money, there is absolutely no reason to have a child before 25-30. I don’t care what ANYONE says.

So to clarify, the degree attainment difference between black men and women is only 7%. That said the problem within our community is that many of us, especially black women feel like if you're not rich, you're poor, and being middle class is not worth all do things you must put up with while married, so they'd rather go it alone. Of course, there are other mitigating factors that contribute to this mindset, but that's the primary obstacle in building wealth together.

ATP any type of partnership will suffice, move in with your siblings, friends, kids or parents, consolidate your wealth short term for long term growth. We're becoming too independent to our own detriment.

My fiancé has a master degree. I only went to community college for a HVAC certification. I make more. It’s only a 7% difference in black men and women going to college. If that’s 7% went to trade school they’re coming out making just as much with less debt.

This is a cool layered conversation. Being married is worth it when both partners have the same social economic outcomes. However everything has to be 50/50 not just money. Women don't want to handle 95% of house management and pay bills. Alot of women opt out because mentality and emotionally marriage doesn't benefit them. But marriage is a good way to built wealth 100%. There needs to be a social and economic shift in our communities.
