@sammie_sprouts: @Chosen Family Thank you for having this conversation! I do think there is so much more to discuss about it though! Specifically, access. And Let’s talk about the true cost, like what healthcare in the 🇺🇸&🇨🇦 ACTUALLY costs. A 2026 Fraser institute study estimates that an average Canadian couple contributes approximately $19, 225 CAD annually toward public healthcare through taxes. That’s about $1,602 CAD per month. It’s a modeled national estimate, not a separate insurance premium, and it isn’t directly comparable to the Americans monthly bill. But here’s what isn’t an estimate. We pay another $900 USD a month (before any tax credits) because we haven’t been able to access the healthcare our daughter needs in New Brunswick and the wait time to see specialist or to get her in for certain treatments are entirely too long for her and her condition and decisions for her can be life or death. So that’s another $10,800 a year in addition to already paying into the Canadian healthcare system and then add travel on top of that. American healthcare isn’t perfect. Neither is Canadian healthcare. But I’m exhausted from hearing that the Canadian healthcare system is free. Would you rather have coverage with potentially high out-of-pocket costs, or coverage without those bills, but significant delay’s getting Care? What has your actual experience been? #growthmindset #healthcare #canadianhealthcare #americanhealthcare #insurance

It doesn't matter how much money cause it depends on how much you pay from your salary. if someone is poor, they pay virtually nothing, and the rich will pay more to cover for it. you virtually have no risk of bankruptcy, unlike in america. You have a very high risk of bankruptcy if you dont have insurance and we all know how bad america insurance there is. its free if youre poor. not everyone is on the same boat. america literally have one of the worse healthcare. they literally overpaying for their service and meds

Love how people think “free” means free. Nothing is free.

We don’t get a monthly bill, and we also don’t get a bill at the point of care. Just take the taxes and cover everyone. Done

An unattached Canadian individual living in Ontario needs to earn a gross salary of approximately $190,000 to $200,000 per year to personally pay $20,000 toward public healthcare through taxes

I pay 53% income tax. Way over half of that goes to healthcare. Not right…. I’d rather pay $650/month

And Americans have deductibles and co-pays on top of that. We don’t go bankrupt when we get cancer.

My cousin passed of stomach cancer in Canada because he had to wait so long for a specialist. He waited around 2 years. He passed 3 months after seeing the specialist.

It’s just a prepayment for your future hospital stay. It’s better than bankruptcy and potentially being denied service.

Let’s not ignore the fact that the Fraser Institute’s numbers are designed to give the impression that we pay more. The 19k is for 2 people, the dollar amount from the video is for 1, doesn’t include deductibles and copays, etc. Compare apples to apples.

No one believes universal healthcare or Medicare for all is free. What we do believe is that we already pay (the average middle income person) $1492 per month in taxes, plus an average of $650 per month for insurance premiums (which can be 3 times that if you’re an older adult), plus deductibles, plus prescriptions. Plus vision and dental insurances. We dont expect free healthcare. We want to have our taxes pay for healthcare instead of bombs and ballrooms.

I work in healthcare, on the administrative side and all of my benefits (health insurance, life insurance, dental and vision) is about $40/week…copays are $45 and a $500 deductible..I am healthy and don’t go to the doctors often so it’s really not bad at all..I will never be okay with paying in advance for healthcare through taxes and then when I need it, I have to wait in line for months or years. No thank yooouuu.

I'd rather have zero income tax and pay $300 per month for premium Healthcare insurance as a single person and much better and quicker care.
