As a former band vocalist, I refuse to understand the theatrics, exaggeration of singing voices whenever covering original songs. I understand the eager to make their own rendition, but not staying true to its genre? They must've forgot it's a punk rock classic? It's annoying, prolly, somewhat disrespectful to the original song.

I think the struggle people are having with this performance is while it technically was sung well, it lacked emotional connection. There is a natural build up of tension in the song. Theres a sense of yearning. By increasing the tempo because of the format of the show, plus shifting some of phrasing up, it lightens the mood of the song and so we feel disconnected from it. The girls sang it well on a technical level, but it lacked the emotional oomph that song needs.

Their voices are SO different. This song is not easy to sing. I love the little changes they did in it. I think it was suited for the taller girl more and her tone is butttteeerrrr…but little shorty’s little runs and unique voice is fun!!!
