I'm from Comoros, my mom studied in Morocco with some other comorian girls, the amount of racism they experienced was crazy, and people saw them as exotic or less than human. An example was when their neighbours (they were Muslim too) came to visit and try on their cultural clothing, but when they tried it on, they wore it in a revealing way and said 'oh this is how you guys dress back there right? ", meanwhile, Comoros is MUSLIM and they knew that, but they wanted to make it seem like what they wore was uncivilised in their terms. And no, I'm not saying that revealing cultural clothing is uncivilized, what I am saying is that the intention of those women were to poke fun at black culture and call them uncivilized as a whole. The way that my mom described the situation was that they didn't do it to appreciate the culture but they thought of it as some joke that they could laugh about. Like 'oh I'm wearing these African people's clothes and it's revealing I'm so edgy', and there were also cases where people harassed them and called them slurs. It's insane how Morocco is literally in africa and there is still so much racism. ( no I don't hate Morocco or moraccan people I am just shedding light on to my mother's experience)

honestly it is a thing in morroco as a morrocan myself if you go to the more local places in morroco you would experience some of the racism but it mostly has to do with bad experiences we had with some black communities in morroco and am really sorry you had to experience this kind of treatment in morroco
