@asiaodysseytravel1: ⚠️ High altitude is breathtaking, but it is NO joke. (Save this survival guide) 📌 A few days ago in Daocheng Yading (Western Sichuan), a tourist suffered from severe altitude sickness (cerebral edema) while hiking. The pain was so intense they rushed off the trail holding their head in agony. Thankfully, they were rescued in time and have fully recovered, but this is a massive wake-up call for anyone traveling to high-altitude destinations. If you are hiking at high altitudes in China (or anywhere): 🛑 DO NOT walk fast or run. 🛑 DO NOT shout or talk too loudly. ✅ DO slow down your pace completely. ✅ DO stop moving if you feel uncomfortable. ✅ DO use oxygen immediately if you have it. High altitude sickness can happen to anyone, no matter how fit you are.#chinatrave #sichuan #travelnews #sichuan #asiaodysseytravel

This is seriously no joke. Many tend to underestimate the altitude sickness. We visited DCYD and Tibet, we were basically fine as we took the advice to slow slow slow down and take the altitude sickness herbs 1 week before we travel. I had a splitting headache for 2Ds and eventually acclimatised.

I'm anemic but surprisingly I was fine at Daocheng Yading 4000above sea lvl, SPO2 was still 95 above. Actually only one person from our tour group needed the tank. The rest of us didn't use it at all. I'm talking about aunties in their 40 50s.
