@marc_sallinger: These are the three most interesting stories I'm following today, October 27. 1. The San Juan River at Pagosa Springs reached about 15 feet during last week's storm. That's 2 to 3 feet higher than the flood just over a year ago that officials considered a 100-year flood. Rain topped 5 inches around Pagosa. Hundreds of people were evacuated, and Gov. Jared Polis declared a disaster emergency for 12 counties: La Plata, Archuleta, Montezuma, Dolores, Hinsdale, San Miguel, Ouray, San Juan, Mineral, Alamosa, Rio Grande and Conejos. He also activated the Colorado National Guard. No deaths or injuries had been announced as of Monday morning. Parts of US 550, US 160, CO 151 and CO 112 closed, and US 160 has reopened between Pagosa Springs and Durango. 2. AAA puts Colorado's average for regular gas at $4.46 a gallon, up from $4.33 a week ago and $2.90 a year ago. The record is $4.92, set June 21, 2022. The Denver metro average is $4.42. 3. Six male Asian elephants, ages 12 to nearly 57, smashed and ate giant pumpkins at the Denver Zoo's "Squish the Squash" event Friday. A local grower donated the pumpkins. Happy Halloween! #Colorado #PagosaSprings #ColoradoFlooding #GasPrices

And we are tasked with feeding the national guard. It’s crazy how our own government can’t even support the national guard. 😬
