The comments are acting as if it’s the girls fault for a mistake the pharmacy made. It is written multiple times that she can only have the one certain manufacturer… whether or not she is able to get that medication because it did or didn’t come in is exactly that and HER problem. But skipping over the part where it has been stated multiple times that PT states adverse reactions to brand/medication is absolutely 100% pt neglect and I am willing to absolutely DIE on that hill. I am a pharmacy technician myself and have worked YEARS in retail and in hospital inpatient settings and in my eyes they failed. And to the people who think I am wrong think of it like this, you get an order for albumin and the manufacturer says “DO NOT TUBE” are you going to tube it or are you going to hand deliver it?? You’ll hand deliver it right, because you don’t want to compromise the stability of the drug, correct? The manufacturer is the doctor prescribing the med so think of it just like that scenario

Walgreens tech here and we have no control over manufacturers NONE. Not to mention if you have a preference it’s up to you to check bag before walking away. Bc back orders and quantity limitation we can’t guarantee a preference can be available all the time

The best route is to go inside the pharmacy, not through drive through, have them show you what is in the bag prior to completing the order.

All the comments about "prefered" manufacturers is part of the problem. The system needs to change it is not just prefered there is valid medical reason such as allergies and adverse reactions that cause the specific manufaturers requirement not preference. If a medication is suppose to help causes harm and can be avioded by a specific brand, explain how that is a preference. Do you also believe that poeple with celiac prefer to not eat gluten, people allergic to bees prefer not to be stung, or or any other allergy prefers not to have what ever they react badly too? She 100% started with why the other manufaturer doesnt work for her, not being able to function with out uncontroled crying, that is a huge sign the medication is doing harm not helping her condition. Just because the systems are they way they are isnt good enough,how about instead of blaming the person trying to get the care their body needs we work to fix the fucking system.

Also why go thru the drive thru when you are requesting a specific manufacturer? And then hey hot take. Check it before you leave the pharmacy.

The problem with this is a lot of independents won’t carry certain meds anymore because insurance is not reimbursing cost. I had to switch to a big box pharmacy because my independent was losing $200/mo dispensing my medicine. The big box is profitable enough to absorb the loss.

Umm. Why is the pharmacy not getting this right? They have the information in front of them. They should be double checking this before giving it to the patient. This happens too much at CVS you really should switch to a different pharmacy.

my pharmacy (grocery Midwestern chain) will order a specific manufacturer through a special request sent to our ordering team. even this doesn't guarantee what you need sadly

I had this problem with Walgreens. I would always look before leaving and then be the biggest pain in the ass to get it fixed.

yea unfortunately we are stocked with on demand medication. manufactur sometimes isn’t a priority. kinda sucks icl i feel bad when we don’t have the manufacturer ppl prefer in stock.

the prescription specifically said what brand to provide. it should be treated as giving the wrong medication altogether. it may have the same active ingredient but it has different ingredients for binders, colours, preservatives etc. For all they know, she could be allergic. it's their fuck up, so even if they dispose of the return, give her the right one. they could clearly process the exchange prior.

I've never heard of any pharmacy exchanging, you got lucky. Once you leave it's yours. We will also never order a specific manufacturer. This aint McDonald's ma'am.

Compounding pharmacy’s can dispense specific manufacturers and will be more attentive about that vs chains too

I have an allergy to a filler that's used by one specific manufacturer of one of my meds and it is noted everywhere it can be to give me any other manufacturer because of the allergy and I always double check (CVS is the only local pharmacy that takes my insurance) and I still have to ask for it to be switched at least once a year if not multiple times. It's unfortunate and they are always super apologetic, but it will send me into anaphylaxis. Definitely different, but even big things get overlooked
