@theparalegalcaree: To meet or not to meet is the question. And an even better question…will there be food? One of the questions some ask when considering becoming a paralegal is, “What does a typical workday look like?” While the work for the day can vary and sometimes not go as you may have planned, attending meetings can be something that your day includes. Intake meetings, client meetings, staff meetings, caseload meetings and meetings and meetings and even more meetings 😩 (still want to be a paralegal?) jk - just a little🤭 If you are a “I hate meetings” type of person, I challenge you to think about them differently as you build your paralegal career brief. All meetings are opportunities to gather data. Data that can spark ideas for goal setting when it comes to your professional development as well as opportunities to learn that others are experiencing the same issues as you…not to fan negativity flames but notice and name patterns to create a think tank that generates solutions to improve processes. Think of meetings in three parts: 1. The Purpose 2. The Preparation 3. The Outcome The Purpose: Think about the type of meeting you are attending. The type of meeting it is will guide you regarding the next part; The Preparation: What do you need to have ready for the meeting? Where you supposed to request records, setup a meeting, etc. Knowing and having this information takes you to the third part; *The Outcome: If this is a caseload meeting, each meeting should be moving the case forward. Even when a case is not moving, it is moving.
