@hotnew73: Macklemore Stands by His “Free Palestine” Message at His First Show Since Being Removed From Ed Sheeran’s Tour Macklemore is not backing down. On Thursday, Oct. 22, the “Thrift Shop” rapper, 43, returned to the stage at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. It was his first show since he was removed as an opener from Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour in September. According to Billboard, he told the crowd, “It is human to have a heart, to watch others suffering and to say, ‘Not anymore!’” He then said, “Free Palestine.” He also spoke about other places facing hardship, including Sudan, Congo, Lebanon, and Haiti. He mentioned people in the U.S. who are afraid to leave their homes because of ICE. “The message will always be love,” he said. Since his removal, Macklemore announced a three-date Free Palestine Tour. All proceeds will go to organizations that help Palestinians. In an Instagram post, he wrote, “What happened to me is bigger than one artist or one stage.” Sheeran, 35, released a statement saying the decision was not his. “Macklemore’s contract for the tour was with the promoter, not me,” he said. He added that he would not abandon the fans, crew, and other acts who rely on the tour. On Sept. 19 in Philadelphia, Sheeran told fans, “I’ve never wanted to be an activist musician.” He said the situation put him in the middle of “an important and passionate argument about freedom of speech.” Do you think artists should speak out on stage? #Macklemore #EdSheeran #Loop #Rock #Music
