In November 1936, Nationalist forces attempted to capture Spain’s capital, facing fierce resistance from Republican troops supported by international volunteers and Soviet assistance. The Nationalist forces also received military support from Germany and Italy. Despite intense fighting, aerial bombardment, and repeated assaults, Madrid remained under Republican control until March 1939, when Nationalist forces finally took the city near the end of the war. #fyp #foryou #ww2 #ww2history #History
