@geek.explained: Okay so I always thought hitting delete meant the photo was gone. Like actually gone. Turns out... not really 😅 First it just chills in your trash folder for around 30 days. And even after you empty that, on a regular hard drive the file is still sitting there. Your computer basically just forgets where it put it and marks that space as "free." So until something new gets saved on top of it, recovery apps can piece it back together. Kinda wild, right? If you actually want it gone, you have to write over it. And one full pass is honestly enough on a modern hard drive. You don't need to do it 7 times like people say. Phones are a different story though. They clean up deleted space on their own (it's called TRIM), and pretty much every modern phone encrypts everything, so once a photo's deleted from your phone it's usually gone for good. USB sticks and memory cards? Not so much. Your old stuff can still be hanging out on those. So if you're selling or giving away an old drive or SD card, wipe it properly first. Trust me on this one. Be honest, did you also think delete meant delete? 👇 #DataRecovery #FileRecovery #Privacy #techexplained
