@buehnenmensch.e.v: The second episode of “Geschichten gegen das Vergessen“ is online! We're excited to introduce our guest: Terry Mandel. While talking with Monique Hansen, Terry tells us about her family’s erased history. She is from California/USA and daughter of Jewish refugees from Germany. Her family’s history was barely mentioned during her childhood. For a long time, Terry assumed that all her ancestors had survived the Holocaust. Years after her parents’ death, she discovered that there was much more hidden behind the family history she knew. Since then, Terry has been deeply engaged with the history of her Jewish family and the search for the stories of her ancestors. Today, she regularly visits Germany to unerase her family’s history and actively contribute to a culture of remembrance. Terry and Monique met during the planning of the UnERASURE Tour 2026, a series of events in November intended to uncover hidden Jewish life at different locations throughout Cologne. Through our podcast series “Geschichten gegen das Vergessen” we want to preserve personal stories, experiences, knowledge, and ways of life and make them accessible to everyone. We focus on periods before the digital age and on life realities that are often overlooked on social media. We don't have a fixed script, instead we start at the beginning and work our way towards the present. Every life is unique, so every person has important, interesting, and inspiring stories to share. Concept: Kevin Körting Camera: Andre Wilb Start listening now. Available on all podcast platforms and on our YouTube channel! Have you had any experiences with erasure in your life?
