I think people should fully have the right to deny being an organ donor… However, I think if you deny being an organ donor, and you’re not willing to donate your organs to someone else than me… Then you shouldn’t be eligible to receive a donated organ should you ever need one.

My first son had passed away from a genetic disorder that was 1 in 40,000 at a month old. A valve in his heart went to another child and had saved the child’s life. I’m greatful that a part of my little boy lives on

Some of y’all don’t understand that if you aren’t an organ donor it’s clearly breaking the law regardless what it’s needed for, when your heart is still beating you’re still able to be saved !! Meaning it was possible they didn’t try as hard AS THEY SHOULD to save the child’s life whether she would be a vegetable or not, To those saying they are greedy for keeping the organ it is plan out ignorance it’s self !! Put yourself in their shoes, IF that was your child and they weren’t a donor and with out YOUR consent your child’s organs were cut from their body and they could still had a chance of being saved , how would you feel ? I remember when I had my baby he was in the nicu born with HIE and we had been asked to donate his organs absolutely NOT sorry not sorry but thats my baby and at the time all I could think was my baby would be cut up for pieces of him no I couldn't do it I was 21yo worst experience of my life 💔 I took him home on hospice he stayed with us another 3 weeks b4 later passing I held him as he took his last breath oh how I miss my boy

This is why people are so against being organ donors. Hospital do this shit. Some hospital even won’t use everything to save you cause your organs can save you another person. That’s why so many people are against being organ donors. Which is sad cause I’m sure if the system wasn’t so corrupt people would be absolutely willing to do so. Cause after I’m dead, im dead. Go ahead but don’t use corruption of hinder treatment to just get my organs it’s so weird

There is a reason we put that information on our driver's license. That is not the family's decision to make. Sad? Yes. But that's why we have total bodily autonomy by law and make that decision while still alive. That woman did not want to be an organ donor and depending on her beliefs, that could be the equivalent of damning her to purgatory or worse.

I think it’s more principle. Standard, because this is easy to abuse. For example it’s known that sometimes the hospital will defer saving a life to be able to use organs. God forbid you get into a car accident some rich person could just pay for them to let you die so they can buy your organs. Some things are illegal because the risk of abuse outweighs the certainty of reward.
