THE COST OF GETTING AHEAD | EP. 03: Everybody Wants Rental Income. Nobody Wants This Shit. 😭 Everybody wants passive income until they realize how much ACTIVE work goes into creating it. Buy the property. Find the tenants. Collect the rent. Build equity. Repeat. Sounds simple enough, right? LMAO. Nobody talks enough about the contractors who charge an arm and a leg just to do the job halfway. The tenants who don’t pay on time. The properties that need repairs every time you turn around. The cleaners who need managing. Or the weekends you spend doing work you thought you were paying somebody else to do. And don’t get me wrong, I still believe real estate can be an incredible wealth-building tool. Rental income, property appreciation, and equity are all reasons I got into this in the first place. But there’s a difference between building wealth and building yourself another full-time job. I’ve spent years working multiple jobs, paying off six figures of debt, saving, investing, and making strategic financial decisions so that my money could eventually work harder than I do. And somehow, here I am, working harder than ever. 😂 The irony is not lost on me. I’m not sharing this to discourage anybody from investing in real estate. I’m sharing it because I think we need more conversations about what financial success actually requires behind the scenes. Passive income isn’t always passive in the beginning. Sometimes it takes years of upfront work, capital, mistakes, and lessons before an investment starts giving you the freedom you originally wanted. And sometimes the smartest financial move isn’t buying another property or creating another income stream. Sometimes it’s getting the systems in place to properly manage what you already own. Because what’s the point of building wealth if you never get to enjoy your life?
