First findings suggest an organized crime context: “Those involved belong to extended families, some members of which have previously come to the attention of police in connection with clan-related crime,” according to police.   A BMW was driven deliberately into a group of people, leaving at least five of them with some serious but not life-threatening injuries in Neustadt am Rübenberge late on Monday night, police said. A police patrol making routine traffic checks in the town near Hannover in the state of Lower Saxony, intervened, shooting at the car to stop it. "The officers witnessed the incident as it happened and opened fire on the vehicle after it had been driven into the group of people," a police spokesperson said.
