I looked at the stage, I looked at the trophy, and I realised that no matter what you achieve, people will always find a reason to give it to somebody else. I'm young, and I know I'll have more opportunities. But that doesn't make this any less painful. You don't get to that stage by accident. You work your entire life for moments like that. If winning the World Cup and LaLiga only gets you third place, then honestly, what is the Ballon d’Or measuring anymore? I congratulate Harry, but I'm not going to pretend I'm happy. I wanted that trophy. I believed I deserved it, and I won't apologise for feeling disappointed. Tonight, I cried because football has always been my dream.
