@thejournal_ie: Macklemore kicked off his Free Palestine tour at Dublin’s 3Arena last night and was joined by a number of acts, including Beoga, Kneecap and Hozier. The gig came six weeks after Macklemore was dropped from Ed Sheeran’s US tour following his pro-Palestinian remarks during performances in New Jersey. During his surprise appearance, Hozier urged for the approval of visas for students in Gaza who have secured scholarships to study in Ireland, directing the audience to sign an open letter to the government. Hozier and Kneecap were among the artists who signed a letter last week urging Taoiseach Micheál Martin to intervene on behalf the students denied study visas despite securing fully funded scholarships at Irish universities.
