my parents split up like 25 years ago. my dad came to my mom's funeral last year and cried. I have my mom's ashes. my husband and I moved 5 states away into my dad's mother in law suite while we are looking for a house and when we moved in my dad said "I bet your mom never thought she'd be living with me again" 😂

my parents didn't really like each other after the divorce, so I was always confused why my grandpa did so much for my grandma (they'd been divorced long before I was born). he paid for bills, took her to appointments, took care of her after surgery. I asked him why he did that if they were divorced (I was 8 or 9) and he said with a genuine smile "she's the mother of my children, of course I'm going to take care of her" and I've held onto that my whole life.

My parents married in college had me and my sister. It was just an arrangement because my father was actually gay. They divorced. He came out finally. They went back to being besties and when we moved home to be with her he came with us. They were peas in a pod. They even followed each other to heaven. Silly geese.

my parents were split for 20 years when my dad died, at the funeral my mom asked for alone time with him and from the window I could see her kissing his face and leaving her handkerchief in his jacket pocket. they were terrible together but I know the love was there ❤️🩹

This is me and my ex husband. There’s a comfort that comes along with knowing you no longer have to fight to stay together. It makes things a lot less tense and then as the years pass, you truly just become family. He feels more like a sibling at this point, I can’t believe we ever looked at each other that way 😂
