really hate the idea of anything foreign produced = good quality and ours are automatically subpar.

Visited friends in Japan and brought dried mangoes for pasalubong. the packaging has this huge mark saying "export quality". My friend read this out loud in this weird tone - like he was offended. As I was explaining what it meant, a faint incredulous look passed over his expression. It dawned on me that the mark signaled they were getting an inferior product. Because for them, their people comes first - they get the very best version of their products - not the foreigners. While it's the total opposite for us, and this most likely did not make sense to them.

Me and my partner were scrolling in divi a while back and saw “japanese” sweet potatoes on the street. She insisted that those are fake and just buy to the local vendors who sells kamote on a cheaper price. She was right

It's true! I've had kamote from Luzon and Visayas, but this kalim Aw sweet potato is on another level! It's truly sweet and creamy, with a great mouthfeel!

I don't mind paying it's rightful price as long as majority of the earnings go to the farmers

This is why i love your content. You keep on promoting our local food that could possibly help local farmers. Youre honestly doing better for our farmers and local produce than our own government

i bought the expensive japanese ones at an import store and it was okay but i didn't like that it was hard to eat because of the bitter skin that you have to peel. i prefer our local variety especially the small ones that you can cook whole and eat with the skin on

In Korea, 🇰🇷 국산 (Made in Korea) products are often more respected than imported ones. It’s partly because of national pride, but also because Koreans tend to trust locally made products more, especially when it comes to quality, safety, and freshness. There’s also a strong culture of supporting local farmers and businesses. Filipinos can definitely produce top quality but filipinos need to buy and choose their own to support them(esp the government).

China is also like that when selling their goods, they’re going to label it as japan. Just look at miniso and japan homes

it's a government problem. they don't invest in improving the quality of our local produce. kahit sa dost, yung research na gusto nila ay pabilisin ang process making it a commodity. japanese people take decades in perfecting their crafts and crops that's why they can put premium label in them. our suka and bagoong has the same potential. di lang binibigyan ng atensyon dahil busy sila magnakaw
