Woke Up Early for Worm Hunting: An Inspiring Morning Adventure This morning, around 4:00 a.m., I ventured out with my flashlight for some worm hunting. I caught a couple of worms, but I realized that I really need a headlamp—it would make things so much easier! My plan was to catch enough worms for a walleye fishing trip, but it was tougher than I expected. After struggling for a while, I decided to wake my son up around 4:30 a.m. I told him,
Woke Up Early for Worm Hunting: An Inspiring Morning Adventure This morning, around 4:00 a.m., I ventured out with my flashlight for some worm hunting. I caught a couple of worms, but I realized that I really need a headlamp—it would make things so much easier! My plan was to catch enough worms for a walleye fishing trip, but it was tougher than I expected. After struggling for a while, I decided to wake my son up around 4:30 a.m. I told him, "Get your butt out of bed and come hold this flashlight so I can catch some worms!" We ended up having a little worm hunting contest! I had to show him the ropes, and it was a great bonding experience. By the end, we managed to catch nearly a hundred worms! It’s all about speed—those little guys will wiggle back into the ground if you’re not quick enough. Sometimes, you’d pull up only half of a worm, and the other half would just slip back down. You have to be gentle to avoid breaking them as you toss them into the bucket. Yesterday was particularly tough for me. It marked over a year since my father passed. Normally, I would have called him to share an eventful day like this, to lean on him as I always did throughout my life. While he's no longer here, the memories we shared continue to guide me. I wrote “Precious Memories” last year, and my father got to hear various drafts of the song. I remember the days when I would take my equipment over to his house; I would play around with different combinations and test out different scales. It was a beautiful experience, and it all felt surreal as the song finally came together around the time he passed. I miss him dearly, and I can't wait until we meet again. I genuinely feel that energy, that connection, and life is short; one day very soon we’ll reunite! As I was worm hunting, I couldn't help but think about the parallel between those worms and life itself. Just like the worms risk being torn apart when they're halfway in and halfway out of the hole, we, too, can find ourselves in similar situations. If you’re not fully committed and encounter resistance, you might get ripped apart by the circumstances. This morning taught me that to avoid being torn in half, we need to be all in—dedicated and unified in our efforts in life. Here’s a thought for you: "Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he'll eat for a lifetime." The more I experience life, the more I realize that everything we need is often right at our feet. Those worms? They come straight from the earth. Last time I checked, I paid $7.50 for just 24 worms at the bait shop. Do the math—that means I would have spent about $30 for 96 worms! Instead, we gathered over a hundred for free. This morning has taught me that to thrive, we have to commit fully to what we want. So, whether it’s worm hunting or navigating life’s challenges—be all in, or not at all! #PreciousMemories #WormHunting #EarlyMorningAdventure #FatherSonTime #LifeLessons #Nature #FishingPreparation #AllIn #Inspiration #EmbraceTheJourney #CherishedMemories #Fatherhood #Commitment #LifeStruggles #MentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth
